Access to healthcare can be a struggle for people with low incomes or those who lack health insurance. For 20 years, Community Clinic has been helping to care for thousands of patients in Northwest Arkansas each year regardless of their ability to pay.
The clinic has grown from a volunteer medical clinic that saw patients only once a month to 14 locations across Northwest Arkansas, making it the region’s largest healthcare safety net provider. There are medical clinics in Fayetteville, Rogers, Siloam Springs and Springdale, as well as dental clinics in Rogers and Springdale.
In addition, school-based health centers are housed at schools in Fayetteville, Lincoln, Prairie Grove, Siloam Springs and three in Springdale.
“Our clinics are strategically placed to address our high need, high poverty neighbors. The School Based Health Centers have been a tremendous asset by integrating medical providers into the school setting,” said Tyler B. Clark, community development director.
The clinics offer primary and preventative care, including wellness exams and vaccines; pediatric, prenatal and women’s health care; chronic disease management; wellness education; prescription assistance; laboratory and X-ray services; integrated behavioral health and tobacco cessation programs, among other services.
Bilingual staff members are available for Spanish- and Marshallese-speaking patients, ensuring culturally appropriate communications that are understood by patients, Clark said.
Community Clinic is a healthcare ministry of St. Francis House of Northwest Arkansas, and as such is driven by its mission of “helping people lead healthy lives by providing healthcare for all in Northwest Arkansas.”
Celebrating 20 Years
The clinics are celebrating 20 years of service with two events in August.
On Aug. 8, the clinic will host a breakfast celebration with Sen. John Boozman and Gov. Asa Hutchinson at 9 a.m. at the Center for Nonprofits, 614 Emma Ave., in Springdale.
The Fayetteville medical center grand opening and ribbon cutting will take place Aug. 11 at 10:30 a.m. The clinic is at 3162 W. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Fayetteville, and Cong. Steve Womack will be in attendance.
“We are celebrating two decades of service in Northwest Arkansas,” Community Clinic CEO Kathy Grisham said. “We will honor past and current board members and the community who have set the vision of healthcare for all which continues today. Thousands of patients use Community Clinic as their medical home, a phenomenal accomplishment from our humble beginnings as a program caring for the uninsured.”
In addition to Boozman, Hutchinson and Womack, other local dignitaries have been invited to the events, such as state legislators, city council and school board members, she said.

Siloam Springs Fundraiser
In addition to the 20th-anniversary events, the 11th-annual Community Clinic Siloam Springs Fundraiser will take place Saturday, Aug. 27, beginning at 6:30. The event is in the Cecil Smith Field, 20610 Smith Field Drive, in Siloam Springs and is hosted by honorary chair, Christina Drake.
Tickets are $75 and include an Italian dinner, cocktails, live and silent auctions and live music from West Street Blues Band.
