Ringing in the New Year Weekend

Let’s give a cheer for the New Year! Ring in 2017 with a great play or art show. Head to the museum for an early countdown with the kids. Or party the evening away. Celebrate the first day with hikes around the Natural State. It’s all waiting for you!

After a terrifying Christmas Eve graveyard encounter, young orphan Pip’s life will never be the same. Plucked from poverty and thrust into the upper class by a mysterious benefactor, Pip strives to discover himself and find love in his radically changed circumstances, even while untangling a fascinating web of long-hidden secrets. Six actors portray more than 40 characters in this virtuosic on-stage adventure that serves up heart and hope with Dickensian shadow — a world premiere adaptation for all ages. Little Dreams in Glass and Metal: Enameling in America, 1920 to Present – LittleRock

The first nationally traveling exhibition in more than 50 years to survey this dynamic field, “Little Dreams in Glass and Metal” is organized by the Los Angeles-based Enamel Arts Foundation, and includes 121 works from the foundation’s collection of modern and contemporary enamels.

Noon Year Countdown – Little Rock

Has it been a while since you heard that iconic countdown on the final day of the year? If you’re a parent of small children, staying up late to ring in the New Year can be just plain unfeasible. Or maybe you long for a more family-friendly affair.
Well, don’t let the night owls have all the fun. Bring the kids out to the Museum of Discovery and join us as we ring in the “Noon Year” on Saturday, Dec. 31. We’ll have kid-friendly activities from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and, of course, a whopping big countdown to the noon hour!

Midnight Masquerade – Fort Smith

The Arc for the River Valley provides education, recreation, and advocacy for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. In 2016, The Arc for the River Valley was able to purchase our own building located at 7821 Texas Road in Fort Smith. Following this exciting move, we are also hosting our first ever large fundraiser. Midnight Masquerade will feature hors d’oeuvres, drinks, live and silent auctions, and live entertainment provided by local band, Wingnut the Band. The event will take place at the DoubleTree by Marriott (currently the Executive Hotel) and tickets are $100. Come ring in the New Year with The Arc!
