We appreciate Bill Scholl, president of First Security Bancorp, for his service and sacrifice for our country. And for exhibiting Bank Better service for our customers every day!
President, First Security Bancorp, Little Rock
Army First Lieutenant, Military Police Corps
Dates of Service: ROTC 1965 – 1969, Active 1969 – 1971, Reserve 1971 – 1973
Bill Scholl was born and raised in Chicago and is a big Cubs fan. He graduated with an ROTC commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Military Police Corps from Wheaton College in 1969. He then served as a platoon leader in Texas and Oklahoma before a year in Long Binh, South Vietnam.
About his time in the military, Scholl said, “The experience was eye-opening as being a 22 year old commanding a wide variety of young men from all over the country. Very much of a learning time for me. The challenges of wartime Southeast Asia were complicated by wide drug use and easy access. The close friendships of my fellow junior officers was a high point as we shared the stress together. We all grew up quickly together.”
After leaving the military, Bill worked in commercial lending at Worthen Bank in Little Rock. He carpooled with another young man named Reynie Rutledge, now chairman of First Security Bank.
Bill loves to ride his Cannondale road bike on the River Trail and to play golf. He was an assistant wrestling coach at Little Rock Christian Academy. And he is active in his church, Covenant Presbyterian in Little Rock. He is married with three children and seven grandchildren.
