Conifer restaurant in downtown Bentonville opened Conifer Farmstand in the Fall of 2022. The space is small yet mighty. At approximately 200 square feet, this “farmstand” may be indoors and out of the elements, yet don’t let that inside fool you – this is a space designed to highlight local, for locals.
Think “modern farmstand.”
Tenants in the Howard on Central have 24/7 access to the market. The rest of us can pop in daily from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Conifer Farmstand is a modern take on roadside farm stands. You know, the kind where you pull over in the middle of nowhere, grab a bag of corn or bottle of honey and pay via the honor system.
So, the “honor system” at Conifer Farmstand is a little more sophisticated since you pay via a computer kiosk. It’s pretty self-explanatory and easy to navigate as you check out. But don’t worry, there are instructions and contact information. And if all else fails, the restaurant is open next door.
Conifer is a gluten-free restaurant, and the Farmstand caters to those who live gluten-free lifestyles. Non-gluten foods are marked.
The refrigerated and freezer section has local products, area artisans, farm goods, and imported specialty items.
I highly recommend buying local chicken and grass-fed beef. The cost is quite reasonable, considering you are buying quality and supporting the community. While you’re at it, be sure to check out the local artisan cheeses!
One of my favorites is the “5-Minute Gourmet ” meals to go. At $10 each, they are indeed a bargain, considering how much it costs to buy a burger at a drive-thru these days. The Wild Halibut and Three Mushroom Risotto is INCREDIBLE!
Of course, a market farmstand wouldn’t be complete without local honey, baked goods, and Zelli Pasta.
Health and beauty aids and snacks are sprinkled throughout the dry goods section of the market.
Accessing Conifer Farmstand is easy if you are a tenant at Howard on Central. However, parking at Howard is strictly for tenants, so account for extra time walking to the Farmstand.
For the rest of us, there is a little bit of navigation to be aware of now since the adjoining lot is in the middle of a vast construction project. It is best to find a parking spot on Central and walk down to the crosswalk in front of the Howard, similar to what you would do if you were visiting the restaurant.
Honestly, it’s worth the somewhat slight effort to pop in.
