Artemis: All-Ages Venue to open in Fayetteville

A

A new all-ages music venue and art space offering a menu of non-alcoholic cocktails, coffees, teas, and more is in the works in Fayetteville.

The new business, called Artemis, is set to open soon at 509 W. Spring Street, in the space formerly home to Club 509.

Locals Alex Thaley, who co-owns Botanical in Bentonville (with another location coming soon in Fayetteville) and Bo Counts, owner of Pinpoint, are behind the new project.

Counts said the two wanted to help fill the gap to provide a small venue for all types of performances available to all-ages audiences, and to see if NWA was ready to support an alcohol-free venue like those that have popped up in other cities around the country recently.

“The idea of a ‘temperance lounge’ isn’t new in larger cities, but NWA hasn’t really had one yet,” Counts said. “There’s no reason that all the gathering spaces have to be centered around alcohol (though it is one of the easiest ways to keep the rent paid). We want to create a space that serves non-alcoholic beverages, but be more than just another coffee shop.”

Counts said he has been offering non-alcoholic cocktails at his bar for a few years now, and has seen demand increase more and more recently.

“Approaching these drinks from a craft bartender mindset creates drinks that are more complex than a Shirley Temple or something that people may instantly think of when trying to order something without booze at a bar,” Counts said. “The idea behind n/a craft cocktails is to give people the same experience of flavor and enjoyment as a traditional cocktail, but without the alcohol.”

The business will also offer some grab-and-go type beverages, with plans to offer kombucha and a few light food and snack options eventually as they get their footing.

The new venue plans to be a hub for a host of performances, gatherings, art shows, maker markets, and more.
