Finding the Perfect Gown at Low’s Bridal in Brinkley

I

I’ll never forget traveling with my college roommate to try on wedding dresses at Low’s Bridal in Brinkley. I’d never traveled to Northeast Arkansas or seen the wide-open fields of the Delta. I grew up in Texas. She grew up in Arkansas.

As we traversed cotton and soybean fields, we talked about the dresses she had dreamed about wearing since she was a girl. And we talked about the dress style she was looking for that day. But, most notably from that dusty drive was my newfound knowledge that Arkansas girls grow up hoping to travel to Brinkley for a one-on-one wedding consultation at the historic Low’s Bridal Boutique.

A Beginning for Low’s Bridal

In 1977, Margo Low opened Low’s Bridal on the second floor of a family pharmacy with only six dresses. Today, her daughter Dorcas Prince owns the store with her husband, Stan.

In 1997, the boutique bridal shop moved into the 1915 historic Great Southern Hotel, built initially as Hotel Rusher. The owners of Low’s Bridal also owned the hotel. And, after a tornado lifted the hotel’s roof in 1994, the owners remodeled the building with the bridal store in mind. The building is on the national register of historic places, and brides and their guests from all over the United States are greeted at the original hotel reception counter.

Low’s keeps a stock of nearly 3,000 dresses representing more than 40 designers. They serve brides sizes 0 to 34, and all consultations are by appointment only. Low’s holds one of the largest selections of plus-size bridal gowns nationally.

A personalized experience

Brides love to visit Low’s because of the personal service each bride receives. Their goal is to keep the personalized experience southern brides, from Memphis to Missouri, have come to expect in a boutique bridal session while preparing each bride to launch into the next chapter of her life.

Important things to know about a bridal consultation with Low’s:

  • Reservations are required.
  • Brides are limited to 4 guests but are welcome to have others join them via technology.
  • No babies or guests under 12 are allowed.
  • Low’s does not do alterations in-house.
  • A dress usually takes 4 ½ – 5 months to return after ordering, but some selections are available to carry out from your appointment.
  • Alcohol is not allowed on the premises.
  • Low’s only offers bridal gowns and bridal accessories. They no longer carry mother of the bride or wedding party selections.

In the meantime, Arkansas girls can keep dreaming in journals and creating wedding dream boards. Wedding season is truly a magical time of year!
