An El Dorado native, former Fayetteville resident, and University of Arkansas graduate is finding success in the country music world with a new single released recently.
Country artist Mary-Heather Hickman, who performed regularly with her band ‘The Sinners’ around Fayetteville while she attended the UA, has a new single that has been streamed more than 350,000 times on Spotify and Apple Music since it was released in late February.
The new song, titled “Treasure” is about Hickman’s – let’s call it questionable – taste in men.
“I was talking about how I have the worst taste in men with my best friend and co-writer, Stefanie Joyce,” Hickman said. “I always seem to date guys I think I can fix and we jokingly started writing a song about it. A little while later, and a few Tequila shots in, Treasure was born.”
The track seems to have struck a nerve. A video of her singing the song has been viewed 2.8 million times on TikTok and became the No. 1 most added song on the MusicRow chart last week.
The song also appeared on Spotify’s New Music Nashville playlist last week and has been featured on the Women of iHeart Country syndicated radio show.

Hickman was born in El Dorado, Arkansas, but has also lived in Frisco, Texas, Fayetteville, and Nashville. Upon graduation from high school, she was selected to appear on Season 6 of NBC’s “The Voice.”
She was recently in town to sing the National Anthem before the Razorback basketball matchup versus Texas A&M last month.
The new single has another Fayetteville connection as well. It was produced by Prairie Grove native Tyler Bell, whose band Gypsy performed regularly in Fayetteville in the ’90s.
The single also includes Springdale native Jenee Fleenor on fiddle. Fleenor won CMA Musician of the Year awards in 2020 and in 2021.
