We’ve also included other great ‘Having a Ball’ recipes to put on the table. These recipes all come from the ‘Appetizers & Beverages’ section of this fun cookbook.
Ingredients:
2 cups shredded cheddar, softened
Two (8 ounce) cream cheese
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
2 teaspoons lemon juice
2 tablespoons chopped green pepper
2 tablespoons green onions
2 tablespoons pimentos
1 cup chopped pecans
1 stick string cheese (optional if shaping into football)
Instructions:
In a medium mixing bowl, mix all ingredients except pecans.
Form into cheese ball.
Roll ball in chopped pecans.
If shaping into football shape, tear off strips of string cheese to make seam and laces.
Refrigerate until ready to use. Serve with crackers.
Can be frozen for up to two weeks for later use.
Other cheese ball ideas:
Ingredients:
Two (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
One (8 ½ ounce) can crushed pineapple, drained
2 cups pecans, divided
¼ cup finely chopped green pepper
1 tablespoon finely chopped onion
1 tablespoon seasoned salt
Instructions:
In a medium bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth.
With a spoon, gradually stir in:
Shape into a ball.
Roll in remaining pecans.
Wrap in plastic wrap or foil.
Refrigerate until well chilled. (Overnight is best.)
To Serve:
Place cheese ball on serving tray.
If desired, garnish with pineapple slices, cherries, or parsley.
Surround with crackers.
Leftovers can be reshaped and refrigerated for later use.
Prep Time: 1 hour
Servings: 8 ½ dozen 1 inch balls
Ingredients:
3 cups Original Bisquick mix
1 pound uncooked pork sausage
4 cups shredded cheddar cheese
½ cup Parmesan cheese
½ cup milk
½ cup dried rosemary leaves, crumbled
1 ½ teaspoons fresh parsley OR ½ teaspoon parsley flakes
Instructions:
Heat oven to 350 degrees.
Lightly grease large baking pan.
In large mixing bowl, mix all ingredients with your hands until well blended.
Form into 1 inch balls and place on greased baking pan.
Bake for 20-25 minutes or until browned.
Immediately remove from pan.
Serve warm.
The uncooked balls can be made ahead of time and refrigerated or frozen until ready to bake. Bake frozen balls for 25-30 minutes or until browned.
