To those country music fans that know the name Billy Don Burns, it looms large. But the truth of the matter is, not many know the name. They know the names of Merle Haggard and Johnny Paycheck—two men who Billy Don Burns has produced albums for. But there is so much more. Billy is an accomplished songwriter and performer and has been a stalwart of the so-called “outlaw” country music scene since the 1970s. Though a generation apart, Josh Morningstar seems to have found a kindred musical companion with Billy Don Burns. The two have been performing together for some time, and the pairing is perfect. Both men have an endless supply of red dirt songs that tell stories, straight from the heart. When not touring, Josh keeps a vigilant songwriting schedule in Nashville. As a free agent, he writes across town with all major publishers. You can hear his current hit with Cody Jinks, “Must Be The Whiskey,” on country radio across the United States. Head to Mountain View this weekend and hear these two perform together and enjoy a night of county music.

The Arkansas Travelers enjoy one of the longest-running histories of any minor league franchise. The “Travelers” nickname is one of the oldest in professional sports, and they are one of the few teams that have never changed their name. “Arkansas Travelers” is derived from the famous minstrel known as the Arkansas Traveler, who roamed the Ozark Mountains selling his wares and singing songs. Formerly the “Little Rock” Travelers, the team was renamed for the entire state in 1957, becoming the first professional sports franchise named after a state.
The travelers have three games this weekend. On the Friday and Sunday games, the kids will have the opportunity to run the bases! A night out at the baseball fields makes for a perfect Arkansas summer evening.
