We began the day with a “first pass” through all of the booths, mentally recording all of the things we wanted to come back and purchase (and mentally calculating how much was in the old piggy bank). This turned out to be a harder task than we anticipated, because there were so many wonderfully talented makers there, proffering their wares. I’ll just take one of everything, thank you!
Some of my personal favorite items (and yes, I purchased them all – Merry Christmas to me) were the handmade jewelry, letterpress stationery and the botanical remedies. We were also very excited about the pumpkin patch, the canoe rentals and the food trucks. Oh, the food trucks! Some of the best street tacos and ice cream I have ever had! We do festivals right in Arkansas!
If you happened to miss the Homegrown, you’re in luck! This happens to be one of the best months for festivals in Arkansas. What’s become known as “War Eagle Weekend” kicks off Wednesday, Oct. 12, with the Spanker Creek Farm Arts & Crafts Festival, located at the Spanker Creek Farm in Bentonville. Thursday, Oct. 13, the War Eagle Fair begins at the War Eagle Mill in Rogers. Finally, on Friday, Oct. 14, the Ozark Regional Arts & Crafts Show will be held at the NWA Convention Center in Springdale and the John Q Hammons Convention Center in Rogers. All of these events will be open through Oct. 16. Hope to see you there!
