Escape Rooms | The Perfect Group Activity

L

Looking for a unique way to spend time together in Arkansas? After the usual routines and activities, why not try something out of the ordinary? An escape room adventure offers a fun and exciting opportunity to create lasting memories with your loved ones. While being locked in a room with your family might sound daunting, it’s a fantastic way to challenge each other and bond. Arkansas has some amazing escape room experiences that are perfect for any occasion!

How Can an Escape Room Outing Encourage Connection?

Teamwork Makes the Dream Work

Escape rooms are all about collaboration. Each person must contribute their unique skills and perspectives to solve puzzles and uncover clues. This teamwork fosters communication and strengthens friend and family bonds. It’s a fun way to see how well you work together under pressure—and maybe even learn something new about each other in the process!

A Break from the Ordinary

Typical activities can start to feel repetitive after a while. An escape room offers a refreshing change of pace. It provides an exciting and immersive experience that pulls everyone away from screens and into a real-life adventure. Whether you choose a thrilling mystery, a spooky theme, or a historical challenge, the variety keeps things interesting.

Suitable for All Ages

Escape rooms often cater to a wide range of age groups, making them an excellent choice for families with children, teens and adults. Many venues offer different difficulty levels and themes, so you can select an experience that suits your group’s preferences and ages or split up and meet back up after the hour. This inclusivity ensures that everyone can participate and enjoy the experience together.

Creating Lasting Memories

The thrill of solving a mystery together is sure to create lasting memories, no matter the outcome! The excitement of racing against the clock and the joy of overcoming challenges will provide plenty of stories to share long after the experience. Plus, you’ll have fun reminiscing about your escape room adventure during future get-togethers!

Mental Stimulation and Fun

It’s easy to fall into routines, so why not shake things up with some mental stimulation? Escape rooms challenge your problem-solving skills and creativity, and you might uncover a hidden talent in a friend, family member, coworker, or anyone who isn’t usually the one calling the shots.

Flexible Scheduling

Most escape room venues offer flexible scheduling, which makes it easy to fit an outing into your busy schedules. Whether you want to go when family is visiting for holidays or squeeze it in during a quieter day, you can typically find a time that works for everyone. A great idea is to leave the kids with the grandparents and let the “grown-ups” have a date night or dinner out after the games. Send pizza to deliver for the kids, and it’s one less meal Grandma must make!

Celebrating Togetherness

Escape rooms foster a sense of unity and shared purpose, reminding everyone of the importance of working together and supporting one another. They’re a great way for families and friends to bond and create lasting memories, especially when spending time together.

If you’ve never done an escape room, here are some tips to help you succeed!

  • Communicate openly – talk aloud and listen to each other.
  • Make quick observations when you start. As silly as it seems, start saying aloud things you notice as you get started: Numbers, words, puzzles, missing pieces and things that seem odd.
  • Divide and Conquer – split up responsibilities of writing, reading and solving puzzles – you don’t always have to have one leader (big sister may need this reminder!)
  • Pay attention to details – everything matters and has a purpose in an escape room, even if it’s a distraction.
  • Watch the Clock – you will be working against the clock; pay attention to how much time you have left as you get stumped on different mysteries.
  • Think outside the box – most things are not obvious or your first thought. Keep thinking about a play on words or anything your theme may help contextualize.
  • Stay Organized – designate a space to put found notes, clues, or things you are gathering so you know where they are when solving riddles.
  • Ask for hints – typically, you are allowed a limited number. If you are genuinely stuck and have tried your options, ask for a hint, and don’t let yourself get bogged down and use up time.
  • Use all the players – find a way to keep everyone and every idea involved.
  • Have fun! – yes, there’s always a competitive brother-in-law that you have to remind. This is just an outing; his success doesn’t depend on you doing it in record time. Enjoy your time together!
