Game Night Reinvented: Jonesboro Bowling Center

I

I am a kid at heart and I love to play. The gaming center, bowling alley and laser tag course at the Jonesboro Bowling Center in Jonesboro is always at the top of my list of great places to play for “kids” of any age. The good news for kids everywhere is that they are expanding!

Construction began in mid-2015 to expand Northeast Arkansas’s largest indoor family recreation center by another 11,000 feet. Three new attractions which will reinvent family game night, along with a host of improvements throughout the center will be opening soon.

Jonesboro Bowling Expansion Construction

The Jonesboro Bowling Center has been in operation since 1976 and was purchased by the family of Marketing Manager Justin Blaxton’s wife about 10 years ago. Blaxton said that expansion has always been a dream and that they were finally able to make it happen. The multimillion-dollar expansion is, after several construction delays, set to open mid-March.

The bowling and laser tag areas will remain largely unchanged. The expansions planned for this hybrid-style family entertainment center are exciting and will give the center a totally new look.

Arcade and Game Room

The current arcade contains 40 gaming units. The newly expanded area will contain an additional 30 units and a bigger and better redemption area.

Bathrooms

No one likes waiting in line for the bathroom, especially when it involves kids that “have to go, NOW!” The bigger and better bathrooms are centrally located and will make for happy bladders for all.

Kitchen and Snack Bars

The kitchen will soon be remodeled and expanded with hopes of offering a larger menu selection making this a one-stop dining and entertainment venue for the whole family.

A secondary snack bar will be added near the new Sky Trail area for easy access to drinks, candy and other snack foods.

SkyTrail

Adventure lovers of all ages are going to love SkyTrail. This indoor adventure course brings all the excitement of a treetop ropes course out of the elements so thrill seekers can climb rain or shine.

SkyTrail contains a number of elements of varying difficulty and should take most climbers about 15 minutes to complete. The current course contains one level of elements. Braxton stated that future plans could include adding an additional element possibly with a zip line descent above the current one and is the reason the new addition has expansive 40-foot ceilings.

Soft-Contained Play

Take the kids play center at your local fast food restaurant, double it, quadruple it, and then double it again and you will have something that still isn’t as cool as what you will find inside the Jonesboro Bowling Center. The new play area has four levels and contains an assortment of tunnels, climbing apparatuses and four slides.

Foam Factory

The foam factory is where you will find every kid and adult who has ever dreamt of having an epic snowball fight. The multilevel cage contains about 5000 foam balls that are perfect for lobbing at your best friend, your arch enemy. Or the stranger that just happens to be inside Foam Factory with you.  If your throwing arm needs a rest you can always use one of the multiple foam ball guns or launchers to send the foam balls soaring through the air.

Other improvements will also include several bouncy house style inflatables, additional party rooms, modernized seating areas and a VIP section on the bowling area.

While this all sounds fantastic, most families are also concerned with affordability. A multimillion dollar expansion has to be paid for through revenue and that revenue is generated through sales. So can patrons expect prices to skyrocket?

Justin Blaxton assured me that patrons will not see an increase in prices of existing activities and that all new activities should be less than 10 dollars. The goal of the Jonesboro Bowling Center is to reinvent game night and offer family entertainment that is reasonably priced to make it accessible to everyday Arkansans so they can enjoy quality time with their children and families.

Check out the Jonesboro Bowling Center online to see all of their pricing, packages and party plans. Connect with them on Facebook to keep up with construction updates and specials. Join them for the grand opening of the new expansion scheduled for February 19th.

The Jonesboro Bowling center is located at 3102 Shelby Drive in Jonesboro. They are open 7 days a week and most holidays.
