NWA Foul Air VW Meet

We recently joined the Volkswagen family by acquiring a ’65 Beetle. For as long as I can remember, I’ve had a thing for the Beetle… Truth be told, I grew up watching Herbie, dreaming of owning my own racing VW with a mind of its own. My dad actually did race, but he stopped long before I was born. When he was visiting at Thanksgiving and found out about our Beetle, he couldn’t resist going out to the garage to inspect it. That love for VW is still there to this day. Once a VW enthusiast, always a VW enthusiast…

What Is Foul Air?

Foul Air Volkswagen Club is a group that was organized and started by Speedy Arnett of Pryor, OK and Jason Sellars of Kansas, OK. It’s a bunch of down to earth VW enthusiasts, friends, and others who like to get together on occasion.

A variety of classes of cars are represented, but the largest class of car represented by the group happens to be the zombie cars. Zombies are cars that probably had no other chance of survival until someone pulled them out of the woods or out of the junk yard and built them into bare bone drivers. In other words, they’re given new life, a second chance per sé.

The cars are perfectly drivable, but the outside appearance is not changed whatsoever… no matter how “ugly” it may be. Though I’d wager to say that no VW enthusiast would utter the word ugly when it comes to his/her car. In fact, if they’re like Dan, their cars have a name and are pretty much an extra member of the family. Yes, we named ours too… Meet Stella.

So, when is this happening and where? First of all, the group is totally open to all, member or not, whether you own a VW or not. It’s about having a good time, enjoying good company, meeting new faces, enjoying the cars, eating good food, and more.

The group will meet at Natural State Sandwiches in Fayetteville, Arkansas, at 12 pm on Sunday, March 15. There may be live music, and the group is also planning a cruise around the city.

I’m not sure who’s more excited, Dan or our boys. We’ve all fallen in love with Stella, and it’s given my guys a project, something to bond over.

If you’re a fellow VW enthusiast, be sure to join the event. It’s sure to be a day filled with good friends and amazing memories!
