Read More about this safari issue. To showcase all of the fun things in and around Region 8, KAIT, a television station in Jonesboro, created the “Take a Road Trip” series. The show started in 2019 to create a fun lifestyle franchise for KAIT. Then the pandemic hit, and restrictions were put into place, the crew took a break from filming until Spring of 2021.
The brains of the branding style were created by Adam Dozier, KAIT’s marketing director at the time, and Drew Hancock, Digital Marketing Manager/producer at the time. Since June 2022, Grant Newkirk has been the primary producer and has added his own touch to the show.
Take a Road Trip is hosted by Kirsten Ditto, digital sales manager at KAIT. She has been there since the beginning and has been able to travel and see so many cool places in Arkansas.
“Even the production crew has fun while filming. We try more experimental techniques and equipment and try to get involved at the location, “said Ditto. “It helps the episodes feel more fun when the crew is having a good time, too.”
Now, with over 45 episodes, the KAIT crew has been to several state parks, mom-and-pop restaurants, agri-tourism attractions, multiple entire downtown communities and so much more! Even though the station is based in Jonesboro they travel out of the city limits to other areas and explore what they have to offer. Take a Road Trip has traveled to Mountain View and even far east has Memphis and Martin, Tennessee. The crew even ventured to Sikeston, MO, for an episode!
First Security Bank is the sponsor of the show, and our own Haley Stotts, Business Development and Marketing Officer in Jonesboro, was able to tag along for a few episodes! Stotts went with Ditto and crew to Crown Lake Resort in Horseshoe Bend, where they toured the property and even had the chance to test out the above-water obstacle course. In a recent episode, Stotts, Ditto and the crew visited OK Trading Post in Mountain View, where they went on a trail ride.
New episodes come out twice a month, and shortened episodes can be viewed on K8 on Sundays at 10 P.M. Check out their newest episode, where they visited OK Trading Post in Mountain View!
