Presented by OnlyinArk.com, the 3rd annual World Championship Chocolate Gravy Cookoff is back on Saturday, May 4, from 9 to 11 a.m. in Downtown Searcy on Spring Street between the Courthouse and First Security Bank. The proceeds for this event will benefit Main Street Searcy.
“Since Adria English, an OnlyInArk.com blogger, shared her first experience with chocolate gravy and recipes several years ago, I dreamed of hosting a chocolate gravy cookoff,” said Kristi Thurmon, chair of the event committee and publisher of OnlyInArk.com. “I am so excited that Searcy is hosting this one-of-a-kind, family-friendly event for the third time. I believe it will draw people from all over the area as it has in previous years.”
“Chocolate gravy is an interesting dish. It brings back childhood memories for some, and it’s a treat to share it with those who have never had it. I always say there are two kinds of people: those who love it, and those who have never tried it. But it always creates great conversation!”
Tickets
Tickets are available online for $10, and a limited number will also be available at the event. Ticket holders will receive individual servings of biscuits and chocolate gravy during the event. Taste them all and pick your favorite!
The event features two contestant categories and people’s choice. Awards of trophies and cash prizes will be presented to the best amateur ($500), best professional ($500) and people’s choice ($500).

9:15 a.m.: Amateur judging begins
9:45 a.m.: Professional judging begins
11 a.m.: People’s Choice voting ends

Amateur (home cooks and hobbyists): $500 cash and a trophy
Professional (chef or restaurant owner): $500 cash and a trophy
