It’s Fall Y’all! Take time to relax and refresh while having some fun in Arkansas. This weekend offers an outing in the Ozarks for off-road adventure lovers, the Johnny Cash Festival in Dyess and a Brews and Tunes event in Springdale. Halloween is approaching and the activities are coming to match! Ballet Arkansas will be performing Sleepy Hollow, adults can enjoy a spooky night out without the kids at Boo at the Zoo, there will be a cemetery singing in Eureka Springs and Williams Tavern at Historic Washington State Park will host tours to highlight some “unexplained” history. Johnny Cash Heritage Festival (Dyess)
This three-day festival honors Johnny Cash and the New Deal programs that shaped his childhood in Dyess, the nation’s largest agricultural resettlement colony. At the festival there will be regional evening music on Thursday and Friday, an academic symposium Thursday morning through noon Friday, special panels and presentations with renowned speakers on Friday afternoon, food and craft vendors, demonstrations, and tours. The festival concludes Saturday afternoon with a world-class music concert in the cotton fields surrounding the Cash home.

Homecoming Musical ‘Matilda’ (Searcy)
The Harding University departments of theater and music will present the annual Homecoming musical Oct. 18-19 at 8 p.m. in Benson Auditorium. This year’s production is “Matilda,” with music and lyrics by Tim Minchin and book by Dennis Kelly. Orchestrations and additional music is by Chris Nightingale. There will be a live, 13-piece orchestra led by Dr. Andrew Cook to perform the score including “Miracle,” “This Little Girl,” and “When I Grow Up.” Don’t miss out on this amazing performance!

Ballet Arkansas’ Sleepy Hollow (North Little Rock)
This will be an eerie multimedia experience! The first production of the 41st season, Sleepy Hollow is a world-premiere multimedia ballet designed in collaboration with the creative team at Cranford Co. Featuring stunning photo and video projection and 360 sound, Sleepy Hollow is an eerie retelling of a classic Halloween tale. Just in time for the holiday! Ballet Arkansas is the professional ballet company of the state.

11th Annual Voices from the Silent City Cemetery Tour (Eureka Springs)
Costumed guided, living history tours of the Eureka Springs Municipal Cemetery will be this weekend. These tours feature actors in period costumes sharing stories of their unique & colorful pasts. These are one-hour walking tours through the Cemetery starting at 5:30 p.m. departing from the parking lot of the old Victoria Inn and leaving every 20 minutes until 8:30 p.m. Free parking & free shuttle service to the Cemetery. This is one of the Eureka Springs Historical Museum’s main fundraisers for the year and has evolved into one of Eureka’s most anticipated events. Come and learn about the history of Eureka from some of it’s “original” founders.

Boo at the Zoo — Adult Night 2019 (Little Rock)

Washington After Dark (Washington)
Halloween at Historic Washington State Park gives you a chance to indulge your imagination. After enjoying an evening meal at Williams Tavern, light your candle lanterns and accompany an interpretive guide through selected sites in Washington that have some “unexplained” happenings in their history. You can believe or not, but you’ll have a wonderful evening walk in which to ponder the possibilities! There are several dates to choose from and reservations are required.

Arkansas State Championship Chili Cook-Off (Bull Shoals)
Cooks from all over Arkansas and surrounding states compete for the title of “Arkansas’s Best Chili.” You will be able to taste the chili and visit vendors as the cooks turn up the heat. This event is hosted by the Bull Shoals-Lakeview Rotary Club.
