Wear white while you still can! Across the state, many are gearing up for that final weekend hurrah of summer. There is no shortage of events this Labor Day weekend, so there is plenty to do as we say goodbye to summer.
There will be a benefit concert in northwest Arkansas featuring Justin Moore, The Village People will be performing at Magic Springs, and the jazz lovers can head to Hot Springs for Jazzfest! Head outdoors and enjoy the final weekend of the Chuck Wagon Races or enter the canoe race at Petit Jean State Park. You might want to try your hand at stone skipping at Fairfield Bay and see if you can take home the grand prize! No matter what you decide to do, enjoy the weekend!
33rd Annual National Championship Chuckwagon Race (Clinton)
The Races are held Friday through Sunday every Labor Day weekend in Clinton, Arkansas. Each year, an estimated 20,000 people are on hand to watch the excitement of chuckwagon racing, bronc fanning, and the Snowy River Race. In addition to the four performances, bands perform after the races and dances are held each weekend. Vendors of Western collectibles, crafts, art, saddles and tack are set up throughout the week at the Western Trade show. Ozark Mountain trail rides begin on Tuesday and are included as a part of the weekend’s festivities. Make plans to check out the Chuckwagon Races in Arkansas!

Hot Springs Blues and Jazz Festival (Hot Springs)
The 2019 Blues and Jazz Festival is this weekend. There will be a “JazzFest Block Party!” on Saturday, August 31, which is a Free outdoor concert under the Broadway Street Sky-bridge from 11 a.m. — 6 p.m. Seven hours of music will include performances by the Steve Hudleson Trio, 106th Army Band Jazz Ensemble directed by Cody Jerrigan, Tenor Madness (Four saxophones in one big performance!), Arkansas High School Jazz Band directed by Gary Meggs, University of Arkansas in Monticello directed by Jason Smith with special JazzFest guest trumpeter Tim Leahey, Frog Squad from Memphis presenting a psychedelic, avant-garde, jazz sound, and Arkansas All-Star Big Band, a 17-piece all-star band of the finest jazz musicians in Arkansas, Louisiana, and East Texas. Tickets at the gate will be $20, and the music lasts from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m., and there will be seven performers.

Great Southern Stone Skipping Championships (Fairfield Bay)
This weekend there is a competitive rock skipping event at Fairfield Bay with cash prizes to top the three winners in men’s, women’s, and children flights. This event is FREE for spectators and only $10.00 to compete. You can bring your lawn chairs and coolers (no glass) and enjoy the competition. All proceeds benefit Arkansas Foodbank and its member food pantries around Greers Ferry Lake.

6th Annual Lake Bailey Canoe Race (Petit Jean State Park)
You can join the fun of the Annual Canoe Race on Petit Jean State Park’s Lake Bailey this weekend. Registration begins at 8 a.m. at the boathouse parking area, and the first heats will begin racing at 8:30 a.m. The event is open to canoes, kayaks or other human-powered watercraft. Rental canoes, kayaks and pedal boats are available at the park boathouse for a fee. The general registration fee is $15. The event includes a short race, long race, beach ball relay and lily pad pickup, as well as a special “just for kids” race. All participants are encouraged to theme their canoes and dress in themed apparel! Be a pirate, superhero, purple dinosaur, Davy Crockett, or whatever! Prizes will be awarded for the best theme and costumes. Awards and recognition are at 11 a.m.

Clothesline Fair (Prairie Grove)
The 62nd annual Clothesline Fair will take place over Labor Day weekend and feature more than 100 booths selling and demonstrating handmade crafts. A parade through downtown Prairie Grove kicks off the event and begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday. The fair also showcases square dancing, antique farming equipment, and live music.

36th Annual Antique and Classic Car Show (Mammoth Spring)
Antique and classic cars will be on display and judged by year class at Mammoth Spring State Park. The gates open at 9 a.m. and judging begins at 11 a.m. This event is free admission for the public and $25 for car entries ($5 to show but not to be judged).

Magic Springs Theme and Water Park- Concert Series — “THE VILLAGE PEOPLE” (Hot Springs)
Even though school is back in session, that doesn’t mean that the summer concert series is over! The Village People will be performing at Magic Springs Theme & Water Park this weekend at the Timberwood Amphitheater. The venue gates open at 6 p.m. The opening act is at 7 p.m. with The Village People scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. The concert is FREE with park admission or Season Pass. Don’t forget to bring your blankets, chairs, and enjoy the show!

Justin Moore Live at JBGB (Fayetteville)
Head to The JBGB on Saturday, August 31, for the 2019 Justin Moore and Razorback Foundation Kick-Off Concert. Proceeds from the event go to the Razorback Foundation in support of more than 465 Razorback student-athletes. General admission is $25.
