It’s time again for live racing at Oaklawn! Head out to see the beautiful horses, check out what’s new at Oaklawn and fill up on 50 cent corned beef sandwiches. Parents of 5th-9th graders should check out the Tween Night opportunity being offered by Crystal Bridges Museum in Northwest Arkansas. Oaklawn Racing Opening Day (Hot Springs)
Opening Day at Oaklawn is this weekend! The thoroughbreds of Oaklawn Park offer some of the most heart-stopping excitement you’ll find in The Natural State. See the nation’s top names battle it out at one of the nation’s finest tracks located in the middle of historic and beautiful Hot Springs National Park. Saturday, the park will host its annual Corned Beef Day. Enjoy Oaklawn’s signature corned beef sandwich for only 50 cents and soft drinks for only 10 cents.

Arkansas Big Buck Classic (Little Rock)
The Big Buck Classic is a tradition that has been going for 30 years, bringing generations together from all across Arkansas for a weekend of celebrating a common theme, the love of the great outdoors. There will be activities and interactive live animal shows sure to please any age as well as outdoor sports products to see and buy. You can view live gators, whitetail deer, and snakes right along with treestands, bow hunting equipment, hunting blinds and custom jewelry. Head to the Big Buck Classic this weekend!

Paint the Town Red — 20th Anniversary (Fayetteville)
Join the American Heart Association and Party with a Purpose to raise money and awareness for heart disease and stroke. Home-school Fridays (Pinnacle Mountain State Park)
Pinnacle Mountain State Park is hosting a program for kids that will be every Friday. Through a variety of experiences, including hiking, crafting, nature programming, audiovisual presentations and more, kids will discover the basic principles of biology, ecology, and conservation. These programs are recommended for students 7-10 years old and will provide an assortment of educational classes as well as outdoor activities. Be sure to send your student with a refillable water bottle, insect repellent, sunscreen, and a sense of adventure. Contact the park each week for course descriptions.

Poetry Workshop: Featuring Chris James (Pine Bluff)
Author Chris James will lead a free workshop at The Arts and Science Center for Southeast Arkansas. This workshop is open to all. James, affiliated with numerous state organizations and a TEDx speaker, is a member of the Foreign Tongues poetry slam team who won second place in 2014’s Southern Fried Poetry Slam, the world’s second-largest poetry competition. An avid educator, James has taught hundreds of students in the State of Arkansas.

Tween Night (Bentonville)
Crystal Bridges’ fantastic Teen Council has planned a great evening for young students featuring a DJ, dancing, artmaking, and unique gallery experiences. Tween Night is completely free and open to all area students in 5th to 9th grade. Parents can drop off and pick up their tweens or hang out in the parent lounge during the event.

Spinathon & Yoga (Jonesboro)
There is a cycling fundraiser for women’s and children’s services at St. Bernards in Jonesboro this weekend. Spin classes will be held every 45 minutes. Participants may sign up for one class or multiple classes. Each spin class will be 30 minutes and will be taught by a separate certified spin instructor, and the registration fee for each is $45. The entry includes a 30-minute spin class, two free drinks and a special participant prize. Sign up to help support the services and have some fun while you are at it!
