Did you know Arkansas is home to the World’s Largest Christmas Pickle? It sits outside of Christmas Winter Wonderland in Fort Smith and is 14 feet tall.
The World’s Largest Christmas Pickle is a replica based on the German-American Christmas tradition of hiding a pickle ornament in a Christmas tree. The ornament is hidden in the tree, and whoever finds it receives a reward or good fortune for the next year. Growing up, my family practiced this tradition, and whoever found the Christmas Pickle was the one to open the first present of the Christmas season.
There are many stories about how the Christmas Pickle came to be a tradition; the most known one is about the German-American soldier who was taken prisoner during the Civil War. It is said that on Christmas Eve night, he begged the guard for something to eat and was given a pickle.
Christmas Winter Wonderland is an immersive, indoor walk-through attraction with plenty of activities and photo opportunities for everyone! There is a theater room that plays Christmas movies, a living room where Mrs. Clause reads a Christmas story, a picture with Santa room and a room where children can do crafts with the elves. Elsa and Anna from Frozen make an appearance, and Rudolph Forest is also inside Christmas Winter Wonderland.
It is $5 for adults, which includes a cookie. It is $30 for children, which includes one cookie, a picture with Santa, one train ride, a story with Mrs. Clause and a Craft with the elves. Christmas Winter Wonderland is also open for school, church and work parties!
