If we were in Mexico, you would call this place a “cafeteria.” The meaning isn’t the same as it is here in Arkansas. You’re probably envisioning the place where kids eat lunch in school or where nurses grab their lunch in a hospital. In Mexico, a cafeteria is not just a place to grab some food or get a great cup of coffee, but an important part of life. It’s a place where you can go alone, or you can meet a friend. A place that you visit regularly.
Si estuvieras en México, a este lugar le llamarías una “cafetería.” El significado no es igual al de Arkansas. Te estas imaginando el lugar donde los niños comen en la escuela, no? O donde las enfermeras desayunan en el hospital. En México, una cafetería no es un lugar solo para comer o tomarte un cafecito rico, es un lugar que termina siendo importante en tu vida. Un sitio donde puedes ir solo, o puedes verte con un amigo a platicar. Un lugar que visitas con frecuencia.
Meet sisters Fabiola Garcia de Trenado and Elizabeth Garcia de Bello. The Garcia family moved to Arkansas from Guanajuato, Mexico, in the year 2000—two parents with 11 children, and quite a few aunts, uncles and cousins. When asked how many people were in the family, Fabiola laughed and said, “I have no idea. Let’s say around 70?”

Juntos con sus tíos, tías, primos, y primas. Cuando le preguntamos “¿Cuánta gente hay en tu familia?” Fabiola se rió y nos contestó “no tengo la menor idea. Como 70?”
Rewind a couple of years to when Fabiola and Elizabeth decided they wanted the city of Searcy to experience the type of cafeteria they knew. The vision started with a butterfly, and when asked, “Why did you choose a butterfly as part of your name and logo?” the response was beautiful. “Easy, because they fly, and who doesn’t want to fly?” A dream became reality, and between 70 family members to help out, it really is what you call a family business.

Delicias La Mariposa y Más is not a restaurant, but a cafetería. They want it to be your go-to spot for authentic Mexican flavors. While they don’t have a full-service menu, you can get tacos, tortas or quesadillas at any time and a special plate only on the weekends! Want a salty snack? You can order “mesquite,” “chips preparations,” or a “bolsa de chicharron.” “If you’re in the mood for something sweet instead, you can get a “Fresas con Crema,” a slice of Flan or a delicious “paleta.”
Delicias La Mariposa y Más no es un restaurante, es una cafetería. Quieren que sea tu lugar de referencia para disfrutar de los auténticos sabores mexicanos. Aunque no tengan un menú completo, puedes ordenar tacos, tortas, o quesadillas cuando gustes, así como platillos especiales en los fines de semana. ¿Quieres una botana saladita?
