There is a gem of a place tucked away in Rogers that has been a part of the preparation process for countless families in Northwest Arkansas. The Baby’s Room is a haven for parents looking to create a unique, designer nursery for their wee one. For nearly 15 years, the store has offered niche products, apparel and furniture lines that suit even the choosiest parent. What started out as a small store in a shopping center strip has thrived into a roomy, trendy boutique located in the Shoppes at Pinnacle Hills, due in part to the hard work of owner Stephanie Adler Harris.
Harris began working part-time in the store when she was expecting her oldest child, who is now 13. She was unhappy in her corporate banking career and looking for a way to work a little, while preparing to become a mom herself. She ended up enjoying the work far more than she expected. “I could relate to the customer because I was just like them,” Harris recalls of her early days working in the shop. She soon bought the store from its original owner and became her own boss, and a working mom.

Now the mother of three boys, she reflects on how owning her own business has affected her. “I’m definitely more sensitive to how to treat employees,” she says, in understanding the need for flexibility and work-home balance. Her advice for other mompreneurs looking to build their own business is not to forget to take care of yourself. “There’s so much to do; don’t be afraid to ask for help or outsource what you can,” she advises.
Harris, right, attributes the store’s success to great employees.
The Baby’s Room has been a longtime fixture in the Rogers community, while several other similar stores have come and gone over the years. Harris believes the longevity of her store is due to the uniqueness of the products it carries. Instead of competing with online retailers, she strives to offer hard-to-find and custom lines that bring customers into her store. With furniture brands like Romina, Baby’s Dream and Pine Creek custom bedding, she has found a way to do that successfully, while building a loyal clientele. “Everyone wants their first nursery to be something special, and we can do that. I like to help customers find exactly what they want,” says Harris.
Razorback items are stocked and ready for football season.
The Baby’s Room is located at 3301 Market Street, Suite 101 in Rogers, Arkansas. Customers can utilize a personalized gift registry and find custom nursery furniture and children’s apparel in sizes from preemie-4T.
