Donut Hole Pumpkin Pops

I

It is trick or treat time in Arkansas! No tricks here – only these easy 5-ingredient Donut Hole Pumpkin Pops! They make the perfect treat for Halloween.

Looking for a cute and super easy treat to make this Halloween? Want to use just a few ingredients to wow your party guests and trick or treaters? Then this recipe is for you. I’m always looking for ways to make cute treats using only a few ingredients and less time. These treats are like a cake pop but easier! No need for icing or baking a cake. There is no need for refrigeration time with this recipe. Using store-bought donut holes will shave your cutting time in half and still delivers on sweet flavors kids (and even adults) will love.

One thing to keep in mind is store-bought donut holes are not created equally. They aren’t all perfect circles, but that’s OK. These little guys are perfectly imperfect, just like pumpkins. That’s why they work out so well for these Donut Hole Pumpkin Pops.

What you need:
Donut holes
Candy melts
Shortening
Pretzel sticks
Green Airheads candy
Paper straws or candy sticks

That’s it. Only five food ingredients and some straws.

Let me show you some easy steps to make the candy leaves:

Place green Airheads candy on a cutting board. Using a pizza cutter, cut in half lengthwise.

Now use the pizza cutter to cut 5 triangles from each half.

Lightly roll pizza cutter across each triangle to make the leaf vein. Form each triangle into a leaf shape with your fingers.

Easy Peasy Pleasy Tips

  • Almond Bark is not an option. You cannot use food coloring to color Almond Bark. Been there and done that. Colored candy melts are the way to go.
  • If melted candy starts getting too hard, reheat in 30-second increments, stirring until soft.
  • Make sure and insert straws to halfway. Any less and your donut hole will fall off during the coating process.
  • Want your pumpkins to look like jack-o-lanterns? Use cookie icing or mini chocolate chips to add eyes, nose, and mouth.

5 Ingredient Donut Hole Pumpkins

Ingredients

  • 2 dozen donut holes
  • 2 ounces orange candy melts
  • 2 teaspoons shortening
  • 12 small pretzel sticks, halved
  • 4 green Airheads candy
  • 24 straws or candy sticks

Directions

Start by making the leaves:
Using a pizza cutter, cut rectangle candy in half lengthwise. Cut each half into 5 triangles. Lightly roll pizza cutter across triangle to make leaf vein. Using your fingers, gently mold candy triangles into leaf shapes. (See pictures for visual steps.)

Now to make donut hole pumpkins:
Melt candy melts according to package directions. Add shortening and stir until melted and well incorporated. Dip the tip of a straw into melted candy, then insert it into the donut hole to the middle. Rest in a Styrofoam block or cake pop holder. Repeat with the rest of the donut holes.
Dip donut hole in melted candy and rotate until completely covered. Gently tap and rotate to remove excess melted candy. Place back into the Styrofoam block. Insert half of a pretzel stick (broken side down) into the top of the pumpkin. Add a leaf while candy coating is still melted. Repeat one at a time with remaining donut holes. Eat and Enjoy!
