The Walmart Toyland event taking place in Downtown Bentonville this weekend is sure to delight children and adults alike. Get ready to start those lists for Santa! History buffs will enjoy the Civil War event at Historic Washington State Park, and there is a fishing derby in Russellville and the World’s Largest Yard Sale in Jonesboro.
The Civil War was one of the most trying times in our nation’s history. During Civil War Weekend at Historic Washington State Park, visitors will walk the streets of a town touched by the hand of war. There will be interpretations of the many conflicts of the area when Washington was Arkansas’s Confederate Capitol. Re-enactors from across the region will present living history demonstrations, including combat scenarios, throughout the weekend. Guided tours of the many historic homes and buildings of the town will be available, as well as surrey rides. Contact the park for a detailed program schedule.

The World’s Largest Yard sale is this weekend! This event has become the largest collection of yard sales in Northeast Arkansas. The yard sale will feature product vendors, artists, and many booths with household items, clothing, baby gear, and more.

Make plans to see the A Comedy of Tenor performance in Rogers this weekend. In this hilarious sequel to Lend Me a Tenor, we have one hotel suite, four tenors, two wives, three girlfriends, and a soccer stadium filled with screaming fans. What could possibly go wrong? It’s 1930s Paris, and the stage is set for the concert of the century – as long as producer Henry Saunders can keep Italian superstar Tito Merelli and his hotblooded wife, Maria, from causing runaway chaos. This is the biggest toy event you may ever see. Kids and parents can go crazy together and have a blast. Walmart fills the Bentonville Square with its toy vendors wanting to show you the latest toys. Some of the toy vendors give out toys, and all of them let you play with them! Try to get there as early as you can, because around 4 p.m. it gets more packed than any other First Friday.

There will be a Fishing Derby at Lake Dardanelle State Park this weekend. There is room for 80 children (aged 6-12) to fish and compete to win prizes between 2 age brackets. There is a $10 entry fee for competitors (food is included in entry price for children). Fishing will take place on the bank, and you will need to bring your own fishing supplies. Fishing will begin at 8 a.m. and go until 11 a.m. Food and prizes will be given out from 11-1 at the Pavilion at Lake Dardanelle State Park.

The Cleverlys will be performing in Eldorado this weekend. They are a one-of-a-kind comedy/music blend coming from the remote part of the Ozark Mountains, near Cane Spur, Arkansas. They have traveled all over the United States, performing at music venues and some of the nation’s largest festivals like Stagecoach, Telluride, CMA Music Fest, and even the Grand Ole Opry. The New York Times wrote, “If Earl Scruggs, Dolly Parton, and Spinal Tap spawned a litter of puppies, it would be the Cleverlys.”
