Hanging Out at The Holler in Bentonville

I

If you are looking for a quiet place to work, a meet-up spot with friends, a dynamic space to co-work with colleagues, or if you’re just ready to let down your hair and shake off the stress of the day, that place exists. And you can find it at The Holler, a local hangout at Bentonville’s popular 8th Street Market.

The Holler was named after the place between two mountains and a valley called a holler. It represents a perfect meeting place. Each nook, cranny, and open space at the hangout spot provides a town hall vibe – only without the government. Chad Williams, general manager, says, “We want to be known for that place where everyone is welcome to come and have the best time of their life. And, just to socialize.”

When I say that there is something for everyone at The Holler, I am not exaggerating. You will find shuffleboard, board games, coffee bar, main bar and food bar. There are couches, short tables, long tables and tables of all size. And yes, there is also plenty of space to coordinate private and semi-private events.

Food at The Holler

Chef Tim Ordway, executive chef, has been with The Holler ever since the doors opened in July 2018. The focus of the food is clean eating and is thoughtfully layered to bring out the best. All of the beef is from 44 Farms in Austin, Texas and the rest are locally sourced as much as possible. Burgers are from prime cut, center grind. And yeah, they’re incredible. Chef Tim thinks it is important to offer a huge selection. “Whatever they want to eat they can find here. It’s important to me, to really serve the customers and embrace hospitality. This is what you have at The Holler. You have options.”

The menu is versatile and all-day dining is available. The most popular foods are the Lumberjack Burger with housemade sweet and spicy BBQ sauce, bread-and-butter pickles, bacon, smoked Gouda and deep-fried pickled jalapenos. Wings are popular during the night hours.

Drinks at The Holler

Airship Coffee, a local coffee roaster, provides coffee for The Holler, and they train the baristas. Housemade syrups and vanilla lavender are quite popular, especially with lattes. Special times call for special drinks, such as Chicory syrup offered on Fat Tuesday. And when you really want something over the top, Chocolate Cherry Mocha is quickly rising as a crowd favorite.

Beer is the most popular drink from the regular bar and the bartenders frequently fill Hawk Moth Brewery, The Howler and unfiltered cream ale. The No. 1 bar drink is frozen Jack and Coke. And seriously, what more could you want?

Activities at The Holler

One of the most memorable spaces at The Holler is the sunken shuffleboard court. Bracket-style shuffleboard tournaments are a popular activity. Details about timing and sign-up is located on their website. Every Tuesday night is Trivia Night, perfect for individuals or teams looking for another chance to participate in a tournament.

Special Events at The Holler

Call ahead if you want to secure a semi-private or private space for an event or after-party. They will even coordinate a live DJ.

Next time your travels take you to Bentonville, be sure to pop into The Holler, and join the local hangout. Genuine hospitality is what they offer, and genuine hospitality is what you’ll get… with a delicious side of food and drink.
