Celebrate National S’mores Day in Mountainburg, compete in the Watermelon Olympics in Hope, play with fire in Little Rock or hunt for bargains across the state along Hwy 64. This weekend there will be 160 miles of yard sales, antiques, collectibles, and flea markets from Fort Smith past Conway to Beebe, Arkansas. Grab some friends and find some treasures and see some Arkansas countryside on the way.

The Hope Watermelon festival features numerous activities including arts & crafts, food, entertainment and other family-oriented activities. Local civic clubs hold dinners featuring such down-home fare as locally grown smoked chicken and golden fried catfish. There will also be a 5k race, a dog show, a “Watermelon Idol” talent contest, watermelon Olympics and more!

The annual Pink for Peitz Rodeo benefits the Peitz Cancer Support House, a community outreach of Baxter Regional Medical Center which provides comprehensive support services for cancer patients and their families. Presented by Rand Rodeo Company, The Pink for Peitz Rodeo includes popular events such as bronc riding, calf roping, team roping, barrel racing, goat untying, bull riding and mutton busting for kids. The celebrated Chicks-n-Spurs Drill Team will perform, and a Cancer Survivors’ Ceremony will be held each evening. Food and drinks will be available at the event.

You can watch fiddle players from across the region compete for the coveted title of Arkansas State Fiddle Champion in the park’s 1,000-seat Music Theater in Mountain View this weekend. The contest includes divisions for all age groups and offers cash prizes for all winners.

What better way to celebrate National S’mores Day than to make s’mores?! Join park interpreters at Lake Fort Smith State Park and make your own delicious s’mores desserts and learn a bit about the tasty treat. This event is free, and everyone is welcome to join. Arkansas Circus Arts will have their Fire & Glow event this weekend. It is a fusion of fire, LED and Circus performances with acrobatics and aerial stunts and brand NEW choreography never performed in Arkansas!
