Slam Dunk Italian Pinwheels: The Perfect March Madness Appetizer

M

March Madness is here, so it’s time for another crowd-pleasing game-day snack! Enter Italian Pinwheels—a classic appetizer that’s easy to make, packed with flavor, and perfect for feeding a hungry crowd. Before “sub in a tub” and the viral Italian grinder took over, Italian Pinwheels were the go-to snack for a tasty, make-ahead treat. Whether you’re hosting a watch party or need a quick, delicious bite, these pinwheels are a surefire win!

Easy Peasy Pleasy Tips

  • Don’t forget to set your cream cheese out to soften.
  • Make sure to drain and dry your banana peppers and roasted red peppers.
  • The burrito-sized flour tortillas are recommended. I used the small carb balance tortillas, and they were slightly harder to roll.
  • Refrigerate for 1 hour or overnight to make slicing easier.
  • The recipe calls for small pepperoni, but I substituted large pepperoni.
  • Use any leftover salami and pepperoni to make flowers or designs to your Italian Pinwheels board.
  • Grab some Submarine Sauce or make your own for the perfect drizzle or little dunk.

Italian Pinwheels

Ingredients

  • 3 flour tortillas, burrito size
  • 1 (8-ounce) package Genoa Salami
  • 30 small pepperoni slices
  • 9 slices provolone cheese

Pepper Spread:

  • 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup Italian breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese
  • 2/3 cup roasted red peppers (jarred, chopped small)
  • 2/3 cup banana peppers (jarred, chopped small)

Directions
Mix all the pepper spread ingredients in a bowl until well combined—spread 1/3 of the spread onto each tortilla. In the center of the tortilla, place three slices of cheese next to one another. Next, layer enough salami to cover the tortilla. After that, layer pepperoni, covering the salami. Lastly, add your romaine lettuce on top. Roll up tightly and refrigerate for 1 hour. Slice into pinwheels and enjoy!
