With so much natural beauty in Arkansas, it only makes sense that our state would inspire artists to create great works. And, it only makes sense that Art on the Green, the only art gallery in Conway, Arkansas would sell art that cannot be found anywhere else in the world.
Recently, Art on the Green acquired fresh works from C. Ford Riley, an internationally recognized artist. Featured in ‘Garden & Gun’, Ford is many times referred to as the Southern Winslow Homer. An avid sportsman, Riley created oil paintings based on sketches from his time hunting in Stuttgart, Arkansas. “He captures the spirit of sportsmanship and the striking Arkansas landscape like no other,” said Brenda McClain, gallery director.

John Porter Lasater IV and Jason Sacran came to Art on the Green from their award-winning shows in Maui. Time was spent painting local and statewide landscapes. Their works too, are a must-see for Art-Loving Arkansans.
Art on the Green works with more than 30 curated artists. McClain says the inspiration for this type of space and dedication to excellence comes straight from the Art on the Green Founders, Nina Ruth and David L. Baker—both Arkansas natives.
David is Dr. David Littleton Baker, one of our nation’s premier Eye Surgeons, and Nina work alongside him as his wife and a registered nurse practitioner. “They can be found day-by-day at Baker Eye Institute on Harkrider Street helping inspire others through the gift of sight. And, they inspire sight in other ways through this terrific space and celebration of art,” said McClain.

Nina is a life-long artist and says her ‘bucket list’ was always to create a gallery for her hometown. She credits David for encouraging and supporting her dream. Together, the Bakers spearheaded the launch of Art on the Green in September 2013.
Art on the Green has grown from two employees to five, and artists’ works now live in homes and businesses across the country.
McClain says they provided over 100 pieces of art to the beautiful new CARTI Cancer Center of Chenal Valley in Little Rock, and currently working with esteemed sculptor Bryan Massey’s on a commissioned sculpture for UCA’s Donaghey Corridor.
Currently, Linda Henderson’s photographs from across Arkansas are on display. Shows coming up at Art on the Green include artists Tim Jacobs; Judy Falkoff and their own Nina Ruth Baker.

It’s an exciting time for Art on the Green. Tuesdays and Wednesdays will find the beloved Bonnie McKay teaching classes. Friday’s are classes from Parson’s.
It seems there is always something going on. Parilee Croft, artist in residence says “Someone is always here painting or reading one of our many books. This really is an Arkansas jewel for creativity.”
They are open between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays.
Art on the Green’s website says we should “Make Art on the Green a refuge from the hustle of modern day life.” Arkansas-based artist Sheila Parsons says, “I come to Art on the Green so I can BREATHE.”
