Deviled Ham Salad Perfect for Easter

M

My No. 1 favorite food for the Easter holiday is smoked ham, and my close second is deviled eggs. This Deviled Ham Salad combines my two favorite dishes into one, and it can work for any holiday. This recipe works as a dip or can even be made into sandwiches. Think along the lines of your favorite egg salad, chicken salad, tuna salad or even deviled eggs. It’s a recipe that tops my Easter bucket list every year!

It’s the perfect recipe to pull out that leftover frozen Arkansas Petit Jean Ham that I saved from the holidays. My pop smokes the best ham for every Christmas dinner, and we freeze the leftovers, sliced or chopped into bite-sized pieces, to use later throughout the year. Sometimes we use ham for sandwiches, casseroles or omelets, but in this case, we are making a Deviled Ham Salad. Even if you don’t have leftover ham, you have options to grab Arkansas’ very own Petit Jean Ham. Check out your favorite Walmart or local grocery store to grab a Bone-In Smoked Ham, Deli Ham or even a Sliced Ham.

Easy Peasy Pleasy Tips

  • No need to add salt until you taste it. I think the ham adds all the salt you will need.
  • This recipe is a perfect way to use up that frozen ham from the holidays. Just thaw out and use the food processor.
  • No leftover ham, no problem. Grab a Petit Jean Ham, Ham steak or thick-cut ham from the deli department of your favorite supermarket.
  • This ham salad depends solely on how you want the texture. I like mine with tiny chunks of ham. You can go for big chunks or even a smoother style. Use the food processor to blend it how you like, or just use your knife.
  • Try different variations by using paprika, smoked paprika, ranch seasoning, or even Wickle’s pickles for a spicy kick.

Deviled Ham Salad

Ingredients

  • 1 & 1/2 pounds ham, diced
  • 2 hard-boiled eggs
  • 1 stalk celery, diced
  • 1/4 cup onion, diced
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 3/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 1/4 cup sweet pickle relish

Directions

Put diced ham, boiled eggs, diced celery, diced onion and pepper into a food processor. Tap the pulse button as many times as needed to get your desired chunky or smooth consistency. In a large bowl, combine mayonnaise, mustard, and relish. Add the ham mixture to the mayo mixture and stir until well combined. Cover and refrigerate until flavors are well combined. Serve as a dip or as a sandwich.
