Macaroni Salad is the Perfect Summertime Side Dish

I

It’s summertime side dish season and Aunt Mary’s Macaroni Salad is the perfect addition to any cookout! You can make it up the day before then refrigerate overnight and have one of your side dishes ready to go to take or serve at your next cookout. You might be looking for another dish to make life easier during summertime side dish season and these baked beans are the perfect recipe that can be prepped ahead of time. Enjoying time with your family and friends this summer is what it’s all about.

Macaroni Salad Tips

This recipe is super easy from the start…

To make this recipe come together even quicker, start boiling your water for the pasta first. Then start chopping your veggies. Once your water comes to a boil, cook pasta according to package directions. While pasta cooks, finish up chopping the vegetables. All vegetables will be chopped and ready to go when the pasta is cooked.

This recipe calls for Mayonnaise or Miracle Whip. Speaking from experience, there is a slightly different taste. Miracle Whip tends to lend a tangier sweet taste than mayonnaise. Knowing that this recipe included sweet relish as an ingredient, I opted to use mayonnaise. This is a judgment call for how sweet you like your macaroni salad and if you prefer Miracle Whip over Mayonnaise.

I’ve made this for years and the mayo – MW debate rages when the answer is sooo simple. 1/2 and 1/2. That’s the way my mother in law taught me in ‘79. We always had both as a large family of opinionated people.
