We don’t normally choose interior images to share, especially in our complimentary calendars. How can an interior photo capture the connection we share as Arkansans? When Linda permitted us to share this photo for December 2020, we had no inkling of what was to come.
Now that December 2020 is here, Linda’s image stirs our Natural State-lovin’ hearts in a new way. The people who settled Arkansas lands would have gathered close around the fire, learned to read under the light of an oil lamp with the aide of their parents and older siblings, played with homemade toys, gushed over gifts, like oranges, in their stockings and spent moments reflecting on all they survived in the unsettled Arkansas terrain that year. In that way, this image of an Old Fashioned Christmas becomes a lot more relatable to us all.
Merry Christmas, Arkansas.
Photographer: Linda Henderson
Location: Pioneer Village’s Christmas Open House in Searcy, Arkansas.
